Before You Start: Make sure you've completed the basic tutorials on Pencil, Brush, Fill, and Text tools. This project uses ALL of them! Save your work often by pressing Ctrl+S.

Color Tip: Always use the same colors shown above for the best rainbow effect. But feel free to add your own favorite colors too!

1 Step 1: Draw the House Base

What We're Drawing:

The main square shape of the house and the ground it sits on.

Instructions:
  1. Open new MS Paint file (Ctrl+N)
  2. Select Rectangle tool from Shapes
  3. Draw a large rectangle in the middle
  4. This is your house body
  5. Draw a horizontal line at bottom for ground
  6. Make sure lines are connected (no gaps!)
Pro Tips:
  • Hold Shift while drawing rectangle for perfect square
  • Make house about 1/3 of canvas height
  • Leave space at top for roof and rainbow
  • Draw ground line from left to right edge
  • Save your work now! (Ctrl+S)
Common Mistakes:
  • House too small or too big
  • Gaps in lines (Fill Tool won't work!)
  • Forgetting to draw ground line
  • Not saving work regularly
Save Alert: Have you saved your work yet? Press Ctrl+S, name it "Rainbow House Project", and save to your Pictures folder!

2 Step 2: Add Roof, Door & Windows

What We're Drawing:

Triangle roof, rectangle door, square windows, and rainbow stripes on roof.

Instructions:
  1. Select Triangle tool for roof
  2. Draw triangle on top of house
  3. Use Rectangle tool for door
  4. Add 2-3 square windows
  5. Draw rainbow stripes on roof with Line tool
  6. Add doorknob with Circle tool
Roof Details
  • Triangle should be wider than house
  • Make roof pointy or flat - your choice!
  • Add rainbow stripes: 7 colored lines
  • Use Line tool for straight stripes
Window Tips
  • Windows should be same size
  • Space them evenly on house
  • Add window cross with Line tool
  • Make sure windows are symmetric
Door Details
  • Door should be centered
  • Add small circle for doorknob
  • Make door taller than windows
  • Consider adding door window
Symmetry Tip: To make windows even, draw one window, copy it (Ctrl+C), and paste (Ctrl+V) for the others. Then move them into position!

3 Step 3: Draw the Rainbow

What We're Drawing:

A beautiful rainbow in the sky with all seven colors!

Instructions:
  1. Select Curve tool from Shapes
  2. Draw a large arc above the house
  3. Make 6 more arcs inside it (7 total)
  4. Color each arc with rainbow colors
  5. Start with RED on outside
  6. End with VIOLET on inside
RED - Outside
ORANGE
YELLOW
GREEN
BLUE
INDIGO
VIOLET - Inside
Rainbow Magic:
  • Rainbows always have colors in ROYGBIV order
  • Red is ALWAYS on the outside
  • Violet is ALWAYS on the inside
  • Make your rainbow big and bold!
  • It should arch over the whole house
Tool Tips:
  • Use Curve tool for smooth arcs
  • Hold Shift for perfect curves
  • Use Fill Tool to color between arcs
  • Zoom in for precise coloring
  • Undo if colors mix accidentally
Memory Trick: Remember rainbow colors with this sentence: Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain!

4 Step 4: Add Background & Sky

What We're Drawing:

Sky, sun, clouds, grass, flowers, and other background details.

Instructions:
  1. Use Fill Tool to color sky blue
  2. Add yellow sun with Circle tool
  3. Draw fluffy clouds with Brush tool
  4. Color grass green with Fill Tool
  5. Add flowers with Shapes and Brush
  6. Consider adding birds or butterflies
Happy Sun
  • Draw circle for sun face
  • Add triangle rays around it
  • Draw smile with Curve tool
  • Add eyes with small circles
  • Color sun yellow or orange
Fluffy Clouds
  • Use Brush tool with white
  • Make circular puffy shapes
  • Group 3-4 circles together
  • Place near rainbow ends
  • Make different cloud sizes
Garden Flowers
  • Use Circle tool for flower center
  • Add petals with Brush or Shapes
  • Draw green stems with Line tool
  • Add leaves with green Brush
  • Make flowers in front of house
Layering Tip: Draw background elements in this order: 1) Sky, 2) Sun, 3) Clouds, 4) Rainbow, 5) House, 6) Grass, 7) Flowers. This creates depth!

5 Step 5: Final Details & Finishing Touches

What We're Adding:

Final decorations, text title, shadows, and special effects.

Instructions:
  1. Add title with Text Tool: "My Rainbow House"
  2. Draw smoke from chimney with Brush
  3. Add shadow under house with gray
  4. Put your name and date in corner
  5. Add any extra decorations you like
  6. SAVE YOUR FINAL MASTERPIECE!
